Stella opened the meeting with a big congratulations to Anne Scott for the success of Vacation Church School and a thank you to her and all of her team for their hard work to make it such a fun week.
A total of 75 children were enrolled, including 15 from Trinity. The total expense beyond income and donations was $205.83. An offering of $960 was collected for Heifer International (this also included Summer School offerings).
Next year Anne has decided to use an Environment theme and hopes again to keep the cost to under $300.
Sunday School:
*It is working well with all the Sunday School children meeting for a mini Worship Service before classes. Heidi and Margaret are working with the children on a song for the 50th Anniversary Celebration to be sung Sat. night and during the church service.
*Pastor Kimberly will fill in for Anne when she is gone in October at the Sunday School opening.
*Stella raised the question of supplying the Sunday School classrooms with disposable cameras like we did for Vacation Church School.
*Senior High has opted to go with the Jr. High (with the exception of Gia) for the time being. They will re-evaluate at end of this semester. The Sr. High will be working on special projects also during Sunday School such as the play for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Many Sr. High students sing in the choir and leave class early to participate.
There are 23 children currently enrolled in Sunday School.
Teachers are:
Nursery-Toddlers: Lillie Johnson, Rose Gonzales, Angelina Romera
4yrs - Kindergarten: Marion Henderson, Margaret Vera
1st - 3rd Grades: Jean Ann Lansche, Sherry Setser
4th - 6th Grades: Kathy Blain, Corky Blain
7th - 9th Grades: Lisa Strobel, Anna Murillo
The $3,000 budget for the year will cover the ordering of new curriculum to finish out the 2005 year along with other necessary purchases.
Adult Sunday School:
*Nick will purchase a new VCR for the Education Building.
*Nick is teaching "Questions of Faith". There are five in this set and will conclude on Oct. 2nd.
*Jerry Ludeke will start her class after the 50th weekend. Her class will focus on a contemporary topic.
*Pastor Kimberly plans to teach (health permitting) Bible 101. She will teach a Membership class at a later date.
* Nick Strobel will be teaching Methodism 101 later in the year.
*Another possibility of a teacher at a later time might be Bernadine Noxin.
Adult Education:
The Thursday Morning group will start up again after the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The Wednesday Evening group is currently meeting with Caroline Close and David Scott as the leaders.
Christmas Program:
Sunday School teachers have expressed a desire for a Christmas Program.
Stella will check with worship to see when a Children's Christmas Program could be scheduled.
Invitation:
Stella will issue an invitation to Josh Huddleston to join the Education Committee or to send a report on the youth's activities since we consider the Youth Group a part of the church's education and would like to know what they are involved in and to see if we can be of service to them also.
Next Meeting:
Education's next meeting will be October 5th at 5:00 p.m. in the Education Lounge. A light meal will be served.
