Confirmation Class consist of Greg and Dan Hanel and Walker and Jami Maxwell. Jami is not be able to go to the Retreat with the class. Phil Maxwell and Pastor Pam will drive the students on Friday the 7th and return on Sunday, March 9th around 5:00 pm. John Robison came to one class but has not been back.
Youth Group had a movie night on the 3rd. Only Jerilyn, Jeanette, Joel and
Shawn were present. The Youth will not be making the Palm Crosses for Palm
Sunday. On March 16th the Youth Group will start planning the "30 Hour
Famine" and also stuff Easter Eggs for the Egg Hunt.
Pastor Pam wants to begin the search for a Youth Group Director. She will talk
to Stafford Betty and has sent letters to churches. Education Committee will
need to come up with a job description though it is thought that there may
already be one on file. Main thing is that we need the leader to be open-minded
and not pressing their personal beliefs. Nick does have something on web site
regarding the director spot.
Amy from Cokesbury is sending some free samples for Adult Education
Classes.
A possibility is "5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations." Barbara
looked at the John series and it is an 11 week class. When looking for materials
we
should keep in mind to look for materials that are respectful to different
political and personal beliefs. The "30 Second Welcoming Book" could
be taught again---we do have the books here.
Adult Education "Living the Questions" video based study has stand
alone lessons and could be done in the summer. There are lessons for 30-40
weeks. It costs $295. We need to decide if we are interested in this.
'One Room Sunday School' will be used again this summer and taught in the
Narthex.
'Godly Play' may work for the fall in the Narthex.
Vacation Church School will be August 11-15. By going back to the 2nd week
in August this year we will be able to have Margaret lead the music. Some people
had already planned vacations for the first week in August.
Pastor Pam may be going to Angola in April so might be bringing back information
on things that we could do with them since our mission outreach will be to
other countries. Anne plans to have plans fleshed out by our next meeting date.
Scott's will be leaving May 20th. Jean Ann and Sherry will gone Palm Sunday.
