Pastor Pam gave an update on Confirmation Class and Youth Group. She has decided
to hold the Confirmation Class directly after church for a total of ten sessions,
starting in February and ending May 5th. It is hoped that this will make it
easier for more of the youth to attend the classes. The Bishop's Retreat will
take place after 4 sessions. In order to attend the Retreat and the San Francisco
trip the youth must be part of the Confirmation Class even if they have already
been confirmed. On January 20th, Pastor Pam will meet with the youth and their
parents to outline this and to discuss the hiring of a Youth Director. The
after church Confirmation Class will take the place of the evening Youth Group
unless by some chance we have found a suitable person and the money to go ahead
and hire a Youth Director and the new Youth Director will go ahead and have
the evening group meeting.
Pastor Pam brought up the idea of the Youth being in charge of a Sunrise Easter
Service but no interest was shown by the youth present.
At the present time there is only Melinda and sometimes Walker in the Jr. High Sunday School class. Last Sunday Melinda went in to assist Jean Ann and Sherry and it worked out well. Rather than have a teacher continue to prepare lessons when there are no students we will try this for awhile. With Sherry going being laid up while recovering from knee surgery the jr. high assistants will mean an assistant teacher will not be needed. Jean Ann plans to call and see if Corky can sub for the times she will be absent and Anne and Stella will serve as substitute teachers when needed.
Sunday School is collecting their offering for Habitat Houses. When the Habitat House being built near Trinity Church the Sunday School will take a field trip to see how their offerings are being used.
Nick's Adult Sunday School Class will be finished by January 13th. Pastor
Pam will come in for half of the the class to explain how they will next start
up a Book Group.
Book Groups will be as follows:
1. Wednesday Night Class led by David Scott will begin on January 16th
2. Thursday Morning Class led by Barbara Dethlefson will begin on January 17th
3. Thursday Night Class led by Pastor Pam will take place before Choir Practice
on January 17th
4. Sunday School Class led by Nick Strobel will begin on January 20th.
Anne Scott has ordered the books for each class.
