After correcting many typos from the March meeting notes...
Anne Scott presented a Summer Activites plan for the Education Committees approval and to be presented to the Adminstrative Council. With a starting date of July 8th, each Tuesday morning for 5 weeks neighborhood children would be invited to come to the Education Building for a one room Bible related story and activities. Anne would be present for each session along with 2 volunteer teachers and has outlined a lesson plan for each week. Anticipated ages would be age 5 through 4th grade.
The purpose would be to:
1. teach about God to children and help them come to know God,
2. To reach out to neighborhood families with a summer church activity for their children,
3. To teach Bible stories to children who don't regularly come to Sunday School,
4. To provide a summer mid-week church activity that Wesley children can enjoy,
5. To better acquaint the neighbors with Wesley through this program.
The focus lessons (each would be a stand alone lesson) would be:
July 8: Beginnings: The Creation and the Birth of Jesus
July 15: God's Love: Noah's Ark and Jesus' Baptism
July 22: Caring for Others: Joseph and His Brothers and Jesus telling us how to live
July 29: Obeying God: Moses Leads His People and Jesus Goes to Jerusalem
August 5: God's Commandments: The 10 Commandments and the Great Commandment
The Daily Schdule would start at 9:00 and continue until 11:15 when parents would be invited to return to see what their children have done (via play, puppet show, etc.) and join the group for a simple lunch.
Advertisement would be done at the Ice Cream Social.
Education Committee wondered if there would be anyone that could help with this project that speaks Spanish.
Education Committee gave unamious approval for it to go before the Administrative Council.

Vacation Church School theme at the moment is "Seeing God Everywhere". As it is now, Monday's activities would focus on the children getting to know each other with the Bible verse being, "This is my commandment, that you love one another". It was tho't that "Jesu, Jesu" would be a good song. Tuesday would focus on our missionary, Katherine Parker, from Cambodia. We may be able to get a video from her. Everyday the classes would compose 1 question for her.
Wednesday would be a field trip if there is one that would be appropriate for our theme. Thursday, Pastor Pam would present Angola and we may be able to connect with a missionary from there. Pastor Pam will find out whether a Stockton Youth Group could prehaps come and do a Cambodian dance presentation.

The Youth Group's plans for the 30 Hour Famine on April 26-27 are going well. The Youth would spend Saturday in the Gathering Place fasting, working with Phil Maxwell on an outreach project, and preparing to serve breakfast to the congregation on Sunday morning. Allison Hanel is to be writing articles for Outlook. Pastor Pam has not done anything in reguards to finding a Youth Leader.

All 3 Adult Study Groups are reading the same book, "Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation". Sunday Morning Group has about 5 members and will finish in mid-May. Thursday Morning Group had only 2 people show. Wednesday Night Group is doing 1 chapter a week. Author has a new 5 week lesson coming out in August.
Pator Pam ordered today the "Living the Question" a series of 21 lessons. She would start it in June or July, perhaps as a Wednesday Evening class. Wednesday morning group is still meeting.

Vacation Church School will be held August 11th-15th. Anne is working on the details and deciding about a field trip.

An Etiquette Class was again briefly discussed as being something that our young people would benefit from.

Godly Play will be presented May 4th after the worship service and lunch (perhaps picnic style of hot dogs and potato salad). All Education Committee members are encouraged to be present. Pastor Pam will write a letter to each family to encourage them to observe. At least one person in each congregation should be trained. Training is the first week of August.

<< Godly Play had to be postponed since many of the families the demonstration was aimed at will be gone that weekend.>>

Chrysalis is like the Walk to Emmaus only for ages 15-21. Chysalis will be doing a walk for adults to see what it is like for kids May 1st-3rd or 4th.

May 11th will be Confirmation. Those youth will serve communion.
There will be no communion that day.

The Scotts will be gone for the month of June. Jean Ann will be gone May 18th and 25th. (May now also be absent all Sundays in May due to illness.)

Next meeting will be Tuesday, July 1st at 4:00 pm.
